Web conferencing has been on my mind lately. I’ve been thinking of a way that I can offer more support to my Website Workshop members. And since building a web site requires visual assistance, I would need something that has a video feature. More specifically a screen sharing feature. Seeing my members’ computer screens would be great, so I can see what they’re doing right or wrong.

I’m happy to say that I’m quite impressed with what they have on the market today. And some of the web conferencing services are priced affordably. Here’s just a list of what I’ve found so far.

    1. GoToMeeting - I find thie to be very popular with the small business niche and quite affordable at $49/month for 10 participants.
    2. WebEx
    3. Macromedia Breeze
    4. Glance - This service provides just a screen sharing feature. No chats or audio. Priced at $49.95/month. But with GoToMeeting offering also voice over IP and chats among other features, I might as well just sign up with them.
    5. GatherPlace - This one looks very promising. And starting at just $29/month.

As I was browsing, I also found what is referred to as VNC-based screen sharing. VNC is currently open source which means that it is free to use. Glance, mentioned above, is actually VNC based.

I currently do not have any reviews for these services since I have yet to try all of them. I’ll check them out, except WebEx and Breeze which are beyond my budget, and I’ll let you know what I think.

In the meantime, if you have any experience with the above services, do share your experiences. And if you’re using something that I have not mentioned, please let me know.

      More about web conferencing later.
