Google Sites is a new online application launched by Google at the end of last month. Much like Squidoo and Hubpages, Google Sites allow you build free websites.

But Google sites is more than what Squidoo page is. Much like with Google Docs, you can share information with team members, employees or family members through online collaboration.

With Google Sites you can create rich web pages, collect all your info in one place and control who can view it all. With this platform you can either build a normal website:

Create a team project:

Design a company intranet site:

Or even create your very own classroom site that could also be used as a membership site.

To do all this and more you don’t need to know any html or other coding. You can design a site in as quick as 10 minutes and customize it with your colors and even a custom made header.

To get started sign up with Google Sites for free and then let your imagination flow. The good thing about Google Sites is that they are new and common popular names like make money online and affiliate marketing might still be up for grabs. Great to use if you are building incoming links for a niche site. If you use the targeted keyword, it will give you more Google juice altogether.

There is also a short and informative video on how it all works.

Once you are within the admin, you simply follow the on screen tutorials and before you know it your site is life.

You can elect to make the site public, or keep it private until you are ready. Template wise, there aren’t many choices yet which I found a little disheartening. But having said that, I think there is definitely room for growth and maybe some developers will take this and run with it.

The whole setup is quite easy to understand and follow, even if you never published a website before.

Once the site is live you can swap and change as much as you like. You can even delete the site if you ever get over it too.

One way or another, I think Google Sites are a great place to get your feet wet ion the online world. What are you waiting for?
