WordPress 2.6 Released

WordPress 2.6 version was released yesterday a full month ahead of schedule. The new version 2.6 is called “Tyner,” named after jazz pianist McCoy Tyner and contains a number of new features that make WordPress a more powerful CMS.

With WordPress 2.6 you can now track changes to every post and page and even post from wherever you are on the web. Naturally there are dozens of other improvements from the previous version.

Post revisions let you roll back to earlier posts

Stay informed about post revisions and when they were made. You can even see by whom. If you prefer to go back to an earlier version you can do this by clicking on the revision link.

Press this

Blog about anything you find on the web by clicking on the Press This link. With an easy drag and drop feature you can select:

• text
• photos
• quotes
• videos

Image captions

To add image captions just type your text and click save in the image editor and you are good to go.

Gears will speed up your blog

If you have to deal with slow Internet connection speeds or other factors of long loading times check out the new gears feature. It will be like adding supercharged fuel to your blog.

Additional features

One of the coolest new features is the word count since it helps me as a writer to see how many words I have written as I go along. This one was long overdue.

The Live theme preview feature allows you to preview your theme before you activate it in a new window.

Sort your gallery with drag and drop, great for re-arranging uploaded images.

Easier to use Plugin interface.

New avatar options giving you control on how they are displayed.

Multi select by shift click.
