Being a webmaster isn’t always easy. In fact, it can give you plenty of headaches. From coding issues to lack of traffic, webmasters battle with just about the same things non webmasters do. Some might be better at dealing with these rotten feelings, while others keep turning in circles.

If you have one of those rotten moments, here is what you can do to turn the situation around.

Rotten feeling 1: Coding issues

You have probably been there before. Regardless whether you are a beginner or advanced coder, you will run into coding issues from time to time. You know the moment when no matter what you do, your new site just doesn’t work. Somewhere within the recesses of your HTML, PHP and what not is a nasty error and no matter how hard you look, you just can’t seem to find it.

Solution: Fear no more. Smart webmasters know that two pairs of eyes are better than one. Therefore they stop fretting and invite a friend to have a look instead. You’d be amazed how often they see errors straight away.

You could also call this the “being too close for comfort” phenomena. If you don’t have web savvy friends who are willing to help, take a break. Put your mind into another frame. This will often help and the moment you get back to work you have this powerful AHA moment.

Rotten feeling 2: No traffic

Smart webmaster know that by building a site alone traffic won’t magically appear. They also know that the object of the game is to rank well in Google to attract organic traffic. It will save you hours of time having to spend commenting on blogs, forums and social networking sites.

This type of traffic is worthless for webmasters, especially if they operate within the realms of Internet marketing.

The reason being is that online users are smart. They don’t click on your ads, they don’t buy your product, they also don’t care about your cool reviews. All they want is information, to sell their stuff and have you buy from them.

We could go on in circles like that until the end of time.

If you have no website traffic, learn SEO, build links and submit to article directories to start ranking for organic positions in the search engines. It’s all you ever need to do to make money online.

Rotten feeling 3: Lack of knowledge

Ever heard of freelancing? If you have, let it be known that freelance writers are well versed in doing research for just about any topic under the sun. It is part of their business and responsible for many happy webmasters.

For those of you who struggle with the topic of your niche by lacking essential insight and knowledge - do some outsourcing. Concentrate on what you do best and let somebody else do their magic.

Not knowing stuff about your niche mustn’t be the end for you. In fact, if you think about it, you will be better off to hire a knowledgeable person as they will help your cause by attracting more organic traffic.

Rotten feeling 4: Being hacked

Being hacked is about as bad as it can get. Especially for webmasters who are not essentially born coders. It can be a nightmare to get back possession of what it really yours. Lucky for most, many host companies are quite forthcoming with their assistance in those matters.

In the end hardly anything justifies for feeling rotten all the time. We experience set backs to help us grow and learn. It is a natural progression and you should never be afraid of making mistakes.

If you are a webmaster, what makes you feel rotten and how do you turn the situation around?
